Ophthalmology, also known as ophthalmology, is the branch of medicine that deals with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases of the visual system. At Bergamo-based Life Clinic eye center, our team of highly qualified ophthalmologists and ophthalmic surgeons offer specialized eye health care services for both adults and children.
Our eye care center in Bergamo offers a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic services for the treatment of eye diseases:
PEDIATRIC EYE EXAMINATION IS CRITICAL TO CHILDREN'S WELL-BEING
Decreased vision, squinting, headaches, difficulty concentrating and learning, and uncertainty during movement and walking can be common symptoms during childhood but at the same time be issues related to a variety of eye and visual function disorders. Early use of tablet or TV or PC screens for playing or studying can sometimes cause vision problems in toddlers. Not being able to focus well on images and objects can be a serious problem.
Visual defects such ashypermetropia, myopia, astigmatism, strabismus and amblyopia, eye movement disorders, nystagmus and other organic eye diseases must necessarily be diagnosed and treated in pediatric and pre-adolescent age, as vision problems that are underestimated and neglected can, over time, worsen and lead to serious visual problems that are sometimes irreversible.
Ocular ultrasound is a noninvasive imaging technique that uses ultrasound to visualize the internal structures of the eye and orbit. This method is particularly useful for diagnosing diseases of the posterior segment of the eye, such as retinal detachment, intraocular tumors, vitreal hemorrhages, and optic nerve diseases.
OCT (optical coherence tomography) is a high-resolution imaging technique that provides detailed images of retinal and optic nerve structures.Angio OCT is a variant of this technique that allows visualization of the retinal and choroidal vasculature without the use of contrast medium. These methods are essential for the diagnosis and monitoring of diseases such as macular degeneration, diabetic macular edema, glaucoma, and optic neuropathies.
Visual field examination is an examination that assesses the extent and sensitivity of peripheral vision. This technique is particularly important for the diagnosis and monitoring of glaucoma, retinal diseases, and optic pathway lesions.
At Life Clinic, we have a fully equipped operating room to deal with even the most complex eye surgery. Our ophthalmic surgeons are experts in cataract surgery (including intraocular lens implantation for correction of refractive defects), vitreoretinal surgery (for conditions such as retinal detachment, epiretinal membrane, macular hole), glaucoma surgery, corneal surgery, and strabismus surgery.
For the treatment of age-related macular degeneration (wet form) anddiabetic macular edema, we offer intravitreal treatments with anti-VEGF drugs and corticosteroids. These treatments help slow the progression of the disease and preserve visual function.
An essential tool for completing cataract surgical therapy. In fact, one of the most frequent uses is on "secondary cataracts" (capsulotomy): a consequence of cataract surgery, which consists of progressive opacification of the capsule containing the artificial lens. Using laser YAG creates a pathway for light to pass through and can eliminate the visual defect resulting from the fogging. YAG laser is also used to perform iridotomy, which is the making of small holes in the iris for the prevention of acute glaucoma.
At Life Clinic, in addition to eye examinations and advanced diagnostic services for ocular pathology, there is a team of Ophthalmic Surgeons capable of surgically treating complex eye diseases.
A significant step forward is the agreement with the Monza Eye Bank, which will provide Donor corneas according to its high standards of certified quality, thus enabling our surgeons to operate on patients in need of full-thickness or lamellar corneal transplantation.
If you need a consultation for a corneal pathology or already know that you need to undergo a corneal transplant, do not hesitate to contact us.
