Varicose Veins or Varicose Veins

Prevention and Solutions

Chronic Venous Disease (CVC) is among the most common vascular diseases and affects mostly women in an estimated 10% to 33%. It is a condition characterized by a variety of clinical signs and symptoms on an inflammatory basis and is generally marked by progressive deformation (pathological remodeling) of peripheral veins. This condition causes valvular incompetence and reflux over time, with development of ambulatory superficial venous hypertension.

Varicose veins (or varicose veins ), found in between 10 and 33 percent of females and between 10 and 20 percent of adult males, are permanently and progressively dilated veins that aesthetically appear tortuous and, from a functional point of view instead, are unable to bring peripheral blood back from the lower limbs and redirect it properly to the heart.

This condition can cause uncomfortable painful symptoms in the legs, especially during summer, feeling of heaviness, and in severe cases thrombosis, embolism , or dermatitis with skin ulceration.

Varicose pathology falls into the category of the most common venous disorders so much so that in Europe, cases are reported in 20 to 30 percent of the adult population, mainly of the female gender for reasons that can also be attributed to hormonal cyclicity and pregnancies.

When suffering from these conditions of microcirculation deficit in the lower limbs, it is essential to do prevention with the goal of arriving at an early diagnosis and avoiding the appearance of progressive symptoms that can result in serious pathologies that will affect habitual social life with even serious economic repercussions.
