Rheumatologist
Professor Carlomaurizio Montecucco is part of the Life Clinic team as a specialist in Rheumatology.
He was Full Professor of Rheumatology at the University of Pavia, where he worked since 2000. At the same University, he held several prominent positions, including Director of the School of Specialization in Rheumatology, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Dean's Delegate for Relations with the National and Regional Health System.
Within IRCCS Policlinico San Matteo in Pavia, he directed the Complex Structure of Rheumatology for many years, coordinating clinical, research and training activities. He was Head of the Multidisciplinary Hospital-Territory Integration Program for Rheumatologic Diseases.
Professor Montecucco received his medical degree with honors and specializations in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. He was awarded the honor of Knight of the Italian Republic.
His scientific activity is extensive and internationally recognized: he has authored more than 600 publications in international journals, with more than 30,000 citations and an H-index of 85. He has participated in leading numerous international studies and served on prestigious scientific committees, including EULAR (European League Against Rheumatism) and the American College of Rheumatology.
In the association field, he has served as president of the Italian Society of Rheumatology (SIR) and is currently president of the Italian Foundation for Arthritis Research (FIRA-ETS). He is also a member of the Steering Committee of POLIS Lombardia.
Professor Montecucco is recognized for his contributions to research in rheumatology, his commitment to the training of physicians and researchers, and his constant focus on the integration of university, health care and the local area.
